The Bridges Essential Standards set out the minimum expectations for safely planning, managing and delivering work across our operations. They provide clear, practical guidance on key risk areas and help ensure that our teams, contractors and delivery partners work to a consistent standard wherever Bridges activities are carried out.
These documents support our wider SHEQ management arrangements by translating legal duties, company requirements and good practice into accessible standards that can be applied at site, project and operational level. They cover important topics such as risk assessment and method statements, personal protective equipment, service avoidance, working near water, welfare, mobile plant, temporary works, lifting operations, confined spaces, working at height and other critical controls.
The Essential Standards should be used during planning, briefing, supervision and assurance activities to help confirm that suitable controls are in place before and during work. They are designed to support competent decision-making, strengthen risk management, improve consistency and help prevent harm to our people, partners, clients and the public.
Scroll down to find our ESS download section, please ensure that you refer to the relevant Essential Standard below before undertaking work within its scope.
